ABOUT MY VEHICLE

I thought long and hard when I was deciding what kind of vehicle would be best for travelling About Speyside. Many of the roads on Speyside are narrow and winding and it was essential that the vehicle that I chose could cope with them; on the other hand there are times when I would need the capability to handle the main roads between Inverness and Aberdeen. I wanted a vehicle that was comfortable, flexible and would give my visitors the best view possible of our beautiful countryside. The other important factor was reliability and after looking at many different vehicles I settled on the Mercedes V Class and it has never let me down.

The Mercedes V Class 220CDI has 7 seats in all. This includes the driver's seat so the maximum number of passengers that I can take is 6. The seats are all individual, are adjustable and have their own 3 point safety belts. I can rearrange the seats independently of each other into many configurations depending on how many passengers are travelling with me.

Some possible seating layouts

If there are six in your group then the configuration will be one of you sitting up front with me, three sitting abreast in the middle behind us and two sitting at the rear behind them. If there are less than six of you I have much more flexibility with the seating and can rearrange it to suit.

Not only do I have to consider how many passengers are in your group, I also have to consider your luggage as well. If there are five or less in your group then luggage is rarely an issue as I can remove one of the six seats and this gives extra space for luggage. If there are six of you however then space for luggage is something that I have to take into consideration. It has never been a problem but if travelling light is not your thing then please let me know so that I can make alternative arrangements to transport your luggage.

The V class is a very user friendly vehicle. It has:

  • Elevated seating positions which give a better view than from a regular car
  • Mercedes air suspension which gives a smooth ride on winding back roads and main roads alike
  • Great all round visibility and twin electric sun roofs
  • Air conditioning for those few days a year when we really need it
  • Sliding doors on both sides for easy access to the rear seats
  • A lift up tailgate which gives a handy place to shelter on drizzly days.
