LET ME DRIVE
Let me introduce myself. My name is Roy Mathers and I'd love to show you the
beautiful area where I was born and brought up. Travel in comfort in my air
conditioned seven seater Mercedes V class and let me share my knowledge of
the area with you and make your time spent "About Speyside" something you
will remember for years to come.
I realised a while ago that there was no way for people like yourselves to get around in Speyside if they couldn't or didn't want to drive.
It can be quite daunting to think about driving on the wrong side of the road and if you are just out and about exploring on holiday it
can be downright scary. There are tour companies who will whisk you around the big tourist sites in Inverness or Aberdeen, but what if
you want to see less well known places, what if you are here to find the graves of your ancestors and want to visit a churchyard out in
the country? I can work with you whilst you are planning your vacation to find out your interests and then between us we can agree
on an outline and a price for your personal journey around Speyside. Alternatively give me a call when you are in the area but remember
that I am out and about a lot and it is always advisable to book in advance to avoid disappointment.
Speyside is the area around the fast flowing River Spey which runs from its source high in the Monadhliath mountains to Spey Bay where
it flows into the Moray Firth. But that's not all there is, I want to show you not just the river valley, but the surrounding area as
well - with all of it's history and drama. The sensational story of The Wolf of Badenoch, tales of whisky smuggling, the history of the
ancient Scottish people everywhere to be seen if only you know where to look, well that's where I come in!
Guide books can only show you the well trodden tourist trails - I would like
to show you the less well known sites at your own pace. No mass tourism
for me, just small groups with a maximum of 6 guests and an informal approach
to the day. I find that most of my bookings come from couples or small
groups traveling together and that means that the day ( or less ) is yours
- the itineraries are tailor made just for you. No two of my days out
are ever the same.
I hate to call them tours - that just conjures up pictures of whistle stop trips and a regimented timetable. I have rough itineraries
based on themes such as Castles, Whisky or Stone Circles, but they usually end up including a bit of everything depending on what my
guests want. If you have a particular special interest just let me know and I will suggest a tailor made itinerary just for you.
