GENEALOGY
People from all over Scotland have travelled to make their homes worldwide
and those from Speyside and Moray are no exception. If you have traced your
ancestors to this area and would like to visit to take your research further
then please contact me and let me know where you would like to visit. There
are so many old graveyards locally that finding them can be quite a
challenge in itself and, sad though it sounds, I have been to most of them!
Being a keen amateur genealogist I understand the thrill of making the
connections and doing the detective work to fill in the gaps. The local
history centre at the library in Elgin (Grant Lodge) is a goldmine of
information and I have spent many happy hours in front of the microfiches
trying to make sense of the copperplate writing of the old manuscripts to
put together pieces of someones family jigsaw. There really is nothing like
seeing the original documents for yourself in all of their yellowed glory
and I can hopefully save your valuable vacation time and take you straight
to them.
If you have information relating to Moray and would like me to help you to
take it further please drop me a line. I have to say though that it won't
happen overnight and please include any information that you have, no matter
how insignificant you think it is.
